Kindness
This pot sits beside our front door, and we hope that the calm, loving energy from these beautiful pink cyclamens can be felt by all who step inside.
Many times, Tim and I share our gratitude for the peace and calm we create at home. To us, it is sacred.
Sadly, our local postmaster passed away this year, and we have been going to a new post office in the next village. The post office and shop are run by twin brothers from India, and they are so kind. We always have a chat and appreciate the care and close attention they give to all they do.
Tim and I were determined to get ahead of the game with Christmas parcels this year, so we have been taking bags of parcels for posting in stages, as they were wrapped up. The lovely brother who looks after the post and I have been having proper chats, and he opened his heart up a few days ago. Today, I popped back in with the last bag of parcels, and there was a gentleman ahead, already being served at the counter. This chap was not well and dishevelled, and as my newfound friend was helping him, he got agitated and verbally abusive. I observed the first volley and how my friend calmly carried on serving him. After the second volley, I stepped forward, and my friend quietly held his hand up, saying,
‘It’s alright, Jane.’
I stepped back and watched my friend calmly continue to look after this chap.
Then it was my turn to be served, and as the chap was still in the shop, my friend quietly whispered,
‘He’s a good man. Really. He only lives a few doors away, and his wife is ill.’
I carried on handing my parcels over the counter, one by one, then he said,
‘I help him carry his shopping home, and take him to the Doctors when I can. It’s alright, Jane.’
I felt my friend’s kind and loving energy.
When I returned home, and Tim and I were eating lunch, I was quiet. Tim asked what was wrong, and I told him the story.
Things are not always as they would appear, and sometimes it’s the right thing to do to step up and speak out. At others, maybe those who know best, are handling things in the most loving way they can. 💕
