This is another beautiful picture Tim took on our weekend in Derbyshire, the newly restored by volunteers and donations, Aqueduct Cottage, built in 1802 and on the Lea Wood arm of the Cromford Canal.
This week has been a round of staying calm no matter what!
I am not going to dredge up or list the stressful events, but instead focus on the food in our fridge for dinner, being warmed by the Spring sunshine blessing our days and the gift of being able to work together side by side in the home we are lovingly making our own.
Yesterday I worked with a funeral director I love and after a heartfelt service celebrating the life of a loving lady, we stood arm in arm watching our family in case they needed us as they chatted in the late afternoon sun.
We have discovered the squirrels like spicy potato wedges. This tickled Tim.
One day this week, when it all got too much, we curled up on our bed and read after dinner. No noise, distractions, TV, just peace.
People are going out to walk their dogs in t-shirts.
After school, youngsters are riding their bikes up and down our cul-de-sac and they are a joy to see.
Every roadside verge is covered in yellow daffodils and primroses.
Seeds are ready to be planted in our garden and on the disused railway cutting, and best of all they have all been loving gifts.
Our rose bushes have found a grateful new home and we have a woodland garden plan, complete with gifted rocks from kind neighbours, for the raised bed.
Tim’s hand gently comes across my desk to remind me I have forgotten to drink my hot drink whilst it is still warm.
‘No hope is false. Hope is a choice. Hope means hoping even when things seem hopeless. Choose to be hopeful, and amazing things can happen.’ Lucinda Riley, author. 🩷
Here is an excerpt from this week’s Thoughtful Tuesday ‘Enough.’
I wish you all calm moments. Till next week, my love to you all. 🩷
Hi UB. I'm testing if I can comment if I come direct through Substack. xoxo
A wonderful reminder Jane, to visit that Calm Space within as well as finding those beautiful tranquil moments of nature outside... Cromford I have visited and walked along those canal banks. And it is a very peaceful spot.
Your posts always bring home to us the need for us to appreciate those little things in life, as you pointed out, the beauty of natures blooms along the way.
We often neglect the importance of gratitude in those small gestures, such a cup of tea being made and brought by our side or the gentle reminders to drink it while we are busy...
I related to that, and all the cups of tea that have been brought to me recently :-)
Sending much love dearest Jane and Tim... May you continue to discover more calm moments among the outer noise of the world.. 💖🙏 Love from all of us xx
