Oh Jane, this post brought back so many Good Memories of our own family holidays in Whitby... We would go often when our children were young, And by ourselves in later years. Enjoying the harbour, and the numerous steps up to St Mary's Church on top of the cliff. Passing the herring smoking sheds, which I do not know are there now, since the cliff face fall a few years back, as we haven't been for over a decade...

But we travelled the same rail journey into Pickering, and walked down that steep hill into Robin Hoods bay...

I felt such Joy in your words dear Jane as both you and Tim explored the East Coast which is very dear to our hearts also.

I cannot believe a year has already flown by.... So we wish a belated Happy Anniversary to you both, and may you have many more wonderful Anniversaries of love filled adventures..

Love from ALL the Dreamwalker household xx <3

Hello Pete, Tim was taken for a ride on a steam train at the Ffestiniog Steam Railway in North Wales when he was about five years old. This sparked a passion for trains, particularly steam engines. Tim loves heritage and nostalgia, and is keen to preserve old buildings, trains and crafts that built them. In 1979, he sat and watched the first Fred Dibnah Steeplejack series with his Dad, and Fred was building his steamroller. This ignited Tim's love of road steam. Tim now owns and runs a steamroller and a logging loco, a dream that took him nearly fifty years to realise. 🩷 Much love to you and Debbie. xx 🩷

Happy 1st Anniversary to you and Tim. It sounds like you celebrated in the most perfect way. I may have mentioned that Paul is from York and spent many of his childhood holidays in Whitby and Scarborough. He has taken me to Whitby on numerous occasions. I love it there. Also, we watch Heartbeat regularly, even now. One of our favourite shows. xo

Hello Darlene, we didn't know Paul was from York. What wonderful childhood holidays he must have had, and I am so glad you've both been to Whitby often. It's a special place. We are looking to see if we can find the Heartbeat series being shown, and it's great that it's one of your favourite shows. If I find myself getting wound up, I take myself back to the memories of our time there. It works a treat! Much love to you and Paul. Xx🩷

Yes, he's a Yorkshire boy. He emigrated to Canada when he was 21, where we met. We flew to the UK and got married in York. Had pictures taken in front of the Minster (although we got married in the Registrar's office!) I love Yorkshire. (and yes, I make Yorkshire puddings for him from time to time) Sending love back to you and Tim.

So glad you had a good time, Jane. Sorry about the fires but as you pointed out there is always a positive side of challenges. People pulling together is one of those circumstances. Best to Tim and Happy Anniversary.

Happy Anniversary! I'm glad you had a wonderful time. I get the impression that Tim's interest in trains goes back many years. Do you know how that began?

Sounds charming … congratulations on your special anniversary! Reading this, about how deep the bogs burn, I have to wonder if iron was discovered in the cooled remains. I read there is enough in the bogs to fire and form into tools. There are places here in the Midwest where archeologists have found pre-columbian furnaces 🤔. All the best !
